Internship – General


POSITION: Media Arts/Film/Non-profit Internships

Time frame: Positions starting in September through December
(Longer terms available)

Commitment: Minimum 6-15 hours per week, dependent on position

Compensation: University credit may be arranged

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:
The Center for Asian American Media seeks skilled and dedicated individuals to assist with programmatic efforts, including its Educational Distribution services, Media Fund Program, and the the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (March, 2008). The internships consists of project-oriented tasks such as film and sponsorship research, database management and archival work. Internships are part time and unpaid positions (college credit may be available). Scheduling is flexible. The positions are best suited for persons willing to share and gain skills in the arena of film programming and distribution, event planning, fundraising, and a sincere interest in Asian American and Asian media arts.

CAAM seeks interns to assist in the following areas:

  • Programming Administration
  • Sales and Distribution of Videos/DVDs
  • Marketing Research and Development
  • Sponsorship and Fundraising
  • Archival Work and Historical Research
  • Press Research, Outreach & Publicity

Internships offer excellent opportunities to experience and participate in an exciting Asian American media arts organization and community. Interns will get hands-on experience with the business, programmatic, marketing and fundraising aspects of a nationally-recognized media arts organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Detail-oriented and team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Previous experience with Excel, and MS Word
  • Experience with Filemaker Pro, Photoshop and InDesign a plus
  • Works well independently in a personal and small office environment
  • Desire to learn about media arts organizing
  • Knowledge/ Interest in Asian American Independent media
