TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: December 3, 2007 – December 31, 2007, part-time
January 2, 2008 – March 31, 2008, full-time
PAY: $2,500 per month (full time, exempt, temporary, no benefits)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Operations Coordinator, under the direction of the Administrative & Operations Manager, is responsible for coordinating and managing logistical and day-to-day operations necessary for the 26th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (March 13-23, 2008).

In preparation for the Festival, the Operations Coordinator will work with Festival staff and theater staff to ensure smooth coordination of Festival venues including office and equipment rental set-up. Additional responsibilities include assistance with all other aspects of festival preparation, such as special event coordination and volunteer/intern management.

During Festival, the Operations Coordinator will work with a Technical Director to ensure that all equipment is tested and ready for screenings. This position will also manage Theater Directors and House Managers to coordinate details of venue operations and ensure that all shows and events are executed in a timely and orderly manner.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Assess needs and create plans and timelines for smooth operations of the Festival
  • Coordinate technical details with projectionists, Print Traffic Coordinator, Theater Directors, and Tech Managers for screenings and live events
  • Determine staffing and volunteer needs for festival operations
  • Conduct trainings and venue orientations for volunteers
  • Manage the houses and lobby areas of SFIAAFF venues and ensure screenings are kept on schedule
  • Develop and facilitate clear communication channels and decision-making procedures in theaters
  • Coordinate volunteer assignments and house management with Volunteer Coordinator
  • Arrange for microphones, stands, chairs, podiums, etc. for events, screenings, and panels
  • Act as liaison with theater management at all venues to ensure smooth operation of the SFIAAFF
  • Facilitate office and rental equipment set-up and close-out at festival venues
  • Orchestrate set-up and breakdown of SFIAAFF presence from theaters (signage, furniture, materials, merchandise, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in theater, festival, or event management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively and work under multiple deadlines
  • Fluency in Mac-based applications such as: MS Office and Filemaker Pro
  • Detail oriented and a team player
  • Knowledge of Asian American community and arts preferred
  • Film production or exhibition experience preferred
