POSITION: Volunteer Coordinator, SFIAAFF
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: January 2 – March 31, 2008, full-time
PAY: $2,500 per month (full time, exempt, temporary, no benefits)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Volunteer Coordinator, under the direction of the Administrative & Operations Manager, recruits, selects, and manages all volunteer personnel for the 26th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF), which takes place March 13-23, 2008. The Volunteer Coordinator schedules and places all personnel at festival venues to assist in such areas as: theater operations, merchandise sales, administration, membership solicitation, hospitality and guest services. The coordinator will also work directly with Special Events personnel to staff Festival receptions and events.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Outreach to and recruitment for prospective volunteers
- Schedule and orient approximately 350 volunteers
- Compile and manage volunteer database
- Communicate consistently with volunteers through online scheduling and messaging system
- Convene informational meetings and training sessions for volunteers
- Produce volunteer handbook and informational materials
- Schedule and confirm volunteer assignments for all Festival events and areas including but not limited to Opening and Closing Night galas, receptions, screenings, guest lounge, and theater lobby
- Handle logistics for volunteers including ID badges, introductions to staff, orientation, etc.
- Manage audience survey collection
- Work closely with Special Events Coordinator to arrange Festival drivers
- Coordinate appreciation party for Festival volunteers
- Maintain accurate documentation and update information in job manual
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication and volunteer management skills
- Ability to motivate, delegate and supervise effectively
- Comfortable working with online volunteer management software
- Fluency in Mac-based applications including MS Office and Filemaker Pro
- Experience as an event planner and/or volunteer coordinator preferred
- Knowledge of Asian American community, organizations, and arts preferred
